The Fountain is often remembered for the development challenges that its director, Darren Aronofsky, had when making the film. Starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz, it was a commercial failure and divided critics, but went on to gain cult status. The film is often considered an epic romantic drama, but it actually combines elements of fantasy, history, sci-fi, and spirituality, to tell the story in three storylines that involve immortality, lost love, and a man's pursuit to avoid a terrible fate.
Set in , the film tells the story of a group of astronauts who are on a mission to reignite the Sun. It explores themes of physics, science, and religion. Heinlein, and is considered to be one of the most consistent time travel stories to explore the paradoxes created by it.
The movie follows a time travel agent who, as his final assignment, must confront the one criminal that keeps getting away from him throughout time. Minority Report might not be the first film that comes to mind when movie fans think about Steven Spielberg, but it's definitely a great sci-fi thriller, with Tom Cruise starring in the lead role.
The movie is set in a technologically-advanced future, where a special police division uses the so-called "precogs" to get predictions about crimes that are about to occur - and then prevent them. Chief of this division, John Anderton, gets a prediction saying that he will soon kill a man he doesn't even know. Surprisingly, The Butterfly Effect has somewhat of a bad reputation, despite the fact that it's still a well-remembered and much-discussed movie with many fans.
The whole story centers around the concept of the butterfly effect, which is a theory that one small event can lead to big changes and consequences. The main character discovers that he is able to travel back in time and decides to change his past, but every minor change he makes leads to a completely new version of his life.
David Fincher's third film The Game stars Michael Douglas and is somewhat forgotten, probably because it is sandwiched between such classics as Se7en and Fight Club Inception takes place in a world where the military has invented a dream-sharing device that not only puts people to sleep in a dream but also somehow connects their subconsciouses so they can experience the exact same dream space.
Not only that, but they can build the dream space themselves by picturing a very specific location. Even the dreams are highly structured things: if you die in the dream or fall in the real world you wake up, you can feel pain, and there is an exact connection between dream time and real time. Inception is definitely science fiction… even though Cobb never dreams of Tatooine or Tralfamadore.
Last, but not least, this bad boy is a heist film. At first, Nolan had planned on going full heist, doing the whole explanation-as-it's-all-happening-Ocean'sstyle thing.
However, he realized that a film about dreams needed to be an emotionally charged film and that heist movies are, by and large, too glamorous and superficial which is why they're awesome. It centers around an old real estate tycoon and billionaire named Damian Hale Ben Kingsley who is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Seeking immortality, Damian seeks the services of a secret biogenic start-up led by a man named Albright Matthew Goode.
They grow a brand new body in a tank, then fake their client's death and transfer their consciousness into the new, younger body. Damian's new identity is Edward Kidner, played by Ryan Reynolds, and while he enjoys his newfound freedom in New Orleans for a time, not everything is as great as it appears to be. Edward has several seizure-like episodes, during which he suffers hallucinations, which end up being old memories from Edward's original consciousness — his body is not, in fact, as new and fresh as advertised.
Messing with time has consequences, as "The Butterfly Effect" proves. Directed by Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber, "The Butterfly Effect" is a science-fiction thriller based on the titular scientific concept: chaos theory suggests even small actions, like a butterfly flapping its wings, can have major effects over time.
In the movie, Evan Treborn Ashton Kutcher is a college student who discovers that he can travel back in time to and inhabit his younger self, explaining the blackouts he used to have as a child. He tries to change the course of his and his friends' traumatic childhoods, especially that of childhood sweetheart Kayleigh Amy Smart , who was abused by her father as a girl.
However, every time that Evan intervenes in the past, something changes in the future, creating alternate realities with unintended consequences. As the title suggests, every action has a consequence. A classic movie for many, David Fincher's "Fight Club" is a must-see thriller if you love "Inception.

While it was critiqued for inciting violence back when it came out , "Fight Club" actually reads more like a social critique of toxic masculinity and white supremacy.
