The siblings went to local public schools. After high school, he joined the Rutgers University Pharmacy School. While in college, he experimented with graffiti and became engrossed in drawing. During the third year of his college years, the dean encouraged him to take a few months off to pursue his interest and dream.

He never returned to the pharmacy school. Instead in , he began his company with financial support from Seth Gerszberg friend and his sister. His fledging business garnered some attention when people like Chuck D. The company then expanded into skates and hip-hop style clothing and began to market under a logo with a rhinoceros silhouette.

Moreover, he expanded his business to social and video gaming, project capital funds and Complex Media, an internet publishing company targeting young men. At first they were dismissive. Then when it started to actually work, they corrected themselves and it was finally important enough to be addressed properly. Who were some the most influential people in your life that helped you get where you are today?

Tell me a story of a time when your sister Marci inspired you and gave you support. But will you be successful? My ghost of reason. I don't know if I'd have the same level of appreciation and "success", as she has defined it-- without her. She has taught me to "create wealth that matters". There is a distinction in doing that, and just "collecting stuff". How have you dealt with criticism around you and your company? What do you do in response?

The criticism has generally come from people who have never built anything. I am a something from nothing guy. Can you share an example when something didn't turn out as expected in your business and how you reacted to it? There have been so many occasions. I think it is a fallacy to think you ever have things turn out "as you expect them.

So why design your expectations that way? That said, I started Complex as a Magazine. Paper and CMYK. If you asked me on day 1, or day I'd never would have contemplated building a media entity that is now ranked in the top websites in the US.

We did M page views last month. Last month! And where it is heading is so exciting. Schleppers like me, with no notable bonafides in media, can get a shot. I have never been bankrupt nor have ever had to bankrupt any companies. Wrong guy. I am proud to say, I have always landed the plane If a Freshman in college asked you how to go about starting a business, what would you tell them?

I tell them just start. Just get in. Just swim. Prepare to feel like you will be drowning. Don't begrudge it. Success is the hang over of failure. So be ready to fail a whole bunch. Then I'd tell them to enjoy the things that matter-- happiness and good health. In the end, if you can not capture that no need in chasing the money. Money won't buy that.

Then I'd punch them in the neck and say "get to work.
